Starting Fall 2025 Monmouth students can experience this once-in-a-lifetime academic adventure with Bond University and study at the Gold Coast, Queensland – GEO’s newest Study Abroad program! Located near the intersection of two World Heritage sites, the Gold Coast is in the tropical North of Australia and boasts miles of pristine beaches and national parks filled with kangaroos and koalas!
Australia’s first private university, Bond University offers an academic calendar similar to Monmouth’s along with the same priority given to student educational and cultural support. Students can be fully immersed in local culture with courses like the “Island Class” and spend a week on a neighboring island researching Indigenous Ecological systems or learn the stories and history of the local Aboriginal surfing community as part of a communications course focusing on storytelling and photography. Any student interested in starting their own business can enroll in the Transformer Program – a hands-on approach to entrepreneurship! But the similarities between Monmouth & Bond don’t end there! - Start your own business with the Study Abroad Transformer Bootcamp program – learn the secrets to startup success in a fast-paced interactive environment!
- COMN 11-115 Gold Coast Surf, Culture, and Storytelling – visit coastal Aboriginal sites, and communities and meet with world surfing champions to tell the stories of the Gold Coast’s surfing culture and heritage
- SDEM12-204 Island Class: Environmental Field Analysis and Indigenous Ecological Knowledge – spend one week on a nearby island to conduct environmental research
Academic Departments and Schools at Bond University are divided into academic divisions: Architecture & Built Environment; Business & Commerce; Communication & Creative Media; Health Sciences & Medicine; Humanities, Languages & International Studies; Law; and Social Sciences, Psychology & Counselling
Student Housing:

Students live on Bond University’s Campus in Residence Halls. Monmouth students will be housed in a double room with ensuite bathroom facilities. Accommodations are fully air-conditioned and serviced weekly to provide clean bed linen including sheets, one pillow and pillowcase, and blanket. All rooms have Wi-Fi and computer internet access and are fitted with a single bed, bedside table, bookshelf, study desk and chair, and wardrobe.
Laundry: Shared laundry facilities with automatic machines and dryers are conveniently located near all rooms. Bed Linens are serviced weekly.
Common rooms: Common rooms include a dining table, couch, and TV. All residents have access to a common room and can have visitors until curfew.
Kitchenette & Dining Options: Each kitchenette is located in the common room area. Basic facilities include a fridge, kettle, microwave, sandwich press, and sink. There are 8 on-campus dining/cafe options for students to purchase food using their dining plan.
Accommodation security: All on-campus student housing is secure. Students require their student ID card to gain access to their building and corridor, and all bedrooms have a lock on the door for privacy. Gender-specific corridors are only available in Buildings 11 and 12. In these corridors, males and females do not live together and are not allowed to share a room or bathroom facilities. All other student housing buildings have mixed corridors.
Student Life:



There are weekly events and check-ins designed to help you acclimate to your new home and academic expectations, and immerse yourself into the local culture ranging from campus events to music festivals.
Learn to Surf: You can’t come to the Gold Coast and not hit the surf! We get the experts to teach you. After the lesson, Cheyne Horan – ex-world surfing champ and current Australian SLS champion – takes you to the Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) to meet some locals, introduce you to the SLSC culture in Australia and explain why it is so important to Australians.
Rugby League Game: Come and cheer for the Gold Coast Professional Rugby League Team – The Titans. You have to catch this game and see this professional Australian sport in all its glory!!
Coffee Breaks: While the Gold Coast is all about the outdoors, Australians still enjoy their fabulous coffee. We follow their lead and meet up for coffee and cake (or a warm caramel-infused doughnut) at various times during the semester. This is a great opportunity to catch up with your Resident Director.
