Sant’Anna Institute is located in southern Italy in the city of Sorrento. Classrooms and residence hall are housed in a historic building sitting upon cliffs overlooking the fishing village of Marina Grande. Students are steps away from the city center. The small and intimate nature of this program allows students to fully immerse themselves in Italian life and culture.
Students can enroll in courses focused on language, art, archaeology, literature, social studies, business, natural sciences and liberal arts, while incorporating language development and cultural immersion inside and outside the classroom.
Sant’Anna Institute offers a wide range of disciplines from Italia Studies to Social and Natural Sciences, from Classical Studies to Business & Management, from Arts & Humanities to Health Sciences. There are also internship programs for credits. Students will take 12 – 15 credits and are encouraged to take at least one Italian course (all levels available), all other courses taught in English.

Student Housing:



Sant’Anna Institute Residence Hall has 39 bedrooms (singles, doubles, triples and quadruples), for a total number of 75-80 people that can be accommodated in the complex. This residence hall is located on Sant’Anna main building, just a couple floors from the classroom spaces.
- Bedrooms contain: twin beds, desks, chairs, wardrobe, night table, lamp, mini fridge, wireless and cable internet connection. Sea-view rooms feature a window; some garden-view rooms feature a balcony
- Each room features ceiling lamp. Blankets, bedspreads, bed linen, mattress pads and pillows will be provided (one set per person), as well as trash receptacles
- Air conditioning is present in all bedrooms. Each room has a suite bathroom with shower, toilet, sink and hot water. Towels will be provided (a set of 3 towels per person)
- Large open floor plan kitchen (shared) and outdoor terrace
- There are laundry facilities in the building. The washing machine and dryer are coin-operated

Student Life:

Between Sant’Anna Institute, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, you will have an array of extra-curricular activities to participate in. Sorrento is wedged between the sea and the mountains which provides ample opportunity for swimming and hiking.
Every week, Sant’Anna organizes optional activities for all of its students including:
- gelato-making and cooking classes
- Italian films
- language exchange partners
- Italian conversation or phonetics lessons
- weekly lunches with SASL Faculty
- buffalo, wine, olive, and limoncello factory tours
- snorkeling
- student clubs
Sant’Anna study abroad students enjoy excursions as a part of their program (3 for semester students and 1 for summer students). Students can also participate in additional optional excursions.

Students also have the opportunity to engage themselves in community service activities (i.e. cleaning up the local marina area).
