Biology reveals the complexity of life and the intricacies of nature. Students in Monmouth University’s biology program develop their critical thinking skills by conducting research in the laboratory and at field sites taking advantage of our Jersey Shore location. Graduates are preparing for careers in the natural sciences, graduate work, or professional school.

Bachelors + Masters

Students with an interest in genetics and biochemistry can concentrate their work in molecular cell physiology. As a discipline, molecular cell physiology studies the link between chemistry and biology, and how the interaction of molecules gives rise to life.

Monmouth University’s chemistry programs prepare students for a broad range of careers by offering strong preparation in synthetic and analytical chemistry, small classes for enhanced learning and one-on-one interaction with professors, and opportunities to participate in research and other applied learning activities.

The Advanced Chemistry concentration is an extended curriculum that provides a career-level foundation in all of the traditional subject areas of chemistry.

Biochemistry is a rapidly growing field that appeals to students interested in both chemistry and biology. The Biochemistry concentration combines the core chemistry program with biology and biochemistry courses.

By specializing in laboratory science, you will learn to operate sophisticated instruments and use biochemical, microscopic, molecular, and immunological techniques to analyze medical specimens.

Monmouth University’s Bachelor of Science in Computer Science provides a broad, substantive overview and understanding of the many aspects of the 21st century computing professional.

Monmouth’s B.S. in Marine and Environmental Biology and Policy program will teach you to apply a foundational knowledge of science to pressing environmental issues, laws, and policies. You will learn to analyze marine and terrestrial ecosystems and understand ways to conserve and manage our natural resources.

Students pursuing Monmouth’s Bachelor of Science in Mathematics will become linguists in the fundamental language of the universe. Our dynamic and experiential curriculum integrates core mathematical subjects with nontraditional courses such as mathematical reasoning and the history of mathematics. You will study the integration of technology and math by exploring programming, mathematical document writing, and graphical and symbolic software.

The Mathematics and Education with an Endorsement in Elementary (K-6) Education program prepares students for a career in education with a strong foundation in mathematics.

The Minor in Chemistry is designed to ensure that students complete a well-rounded distribution of coursework so that they can explore and deepen their knowledge of all of the foundation areas of chemistry.

The Computer Science Minor offers students a solid introduction to computer science that helps them develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, acquire object-oriented coding and debugging proficiencies, and work with software engineering concepts and/or computer architecture.

The Information Technology Minor provides students with essential proficiencies to help maximize their technological fluency.

The sequence of courses in the Mathematics Minor provides students with the necessary foundation in mathematics to be proficient in a world that is becoming more and more quantitative in nature.

Students who choose the Minor in Physics have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the foundations of physics and its applications in other fields.

The Minor in Statistics will give students both a foundation in calculus and specialized advanced knowledge in pure and applied statistics.
