Monmouth University’s speech language pathology program prepares students to complete their required clinical clock hours to seek employment at such facilities as hospitals, subacute facilities, rehabilitation institutes, schools, specialized schools, home health care, physician’s offices, university clinics, or private practices for speech and language services.
Clinical experiences are supported by diverse partnerships at over 100 sites. Speech language pathologists (SLP) who hold certification by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) supervise students providing therapy.
Each partnership is secured by an affiliation agreement with the facility. These partnerships allow the students to obtain clinical hours through direct client and patient interaction as well as one-on-one mentoring with experienced clinicians. Additionally, each partnership is accompanied by collaborative supervision from a university supervisor.
Besides preparing SLP students to become professionals, the partnerships promote Monmouth University in the community. The following testimonials were received from site supervisors:
“Your Monmouth student has been a helpful part of our start up to the school year. Clinical supervision is a passion of mine and a terrific way to give back within our field. It’s my pleasure and my obligation to give back to the academic community … pay it forward.”
