What are the alternatives to using extension cords?

It’s recommended that residents use surge protectors to power their electronic devices. Surge protectors can help protect your equipment from power surges and provide multiple outlets for your devices.

Can we bring our own furniture?

Generally, Monmouth University does not allow students to bring their own furniture to residence halls. This is to ensure consistency and safety across all rooms.

However, there might be exceptions for certain medical or disability accommodations. If you have a specific need or request, contacting the Residential Life office directly to discuss your situation and explore potential options is best.

Items that require an open flame to operate, or that produce heat (Bunsen burners, lighted candles, incense, indoor and outdoor grills, etc.), are not allowed in residents’ rooms or adjacent to any University building. Unburned candles may not be used for decorative purposes.

We suggest using white putty or command strips to hang decorations on your wall. Please be aware of how you remove command strips as incorrect removal can lead to damage to the paint and/or the wall. This includes nails and other similar items.
