An intensive guidance program offered by the PHA begins in the freshmen year. The sequential nature of the natural and physical science courses chosen requires careful planning if students are to meet the requirements of their chosen professional health schools.
In addition to course advisement, PHA members provide students with information and guidance on admissions tests such as the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) and the DAT (Dental Admissions Test) and prepare them for entrance interviews at professional health-related schools. The Committee also composes and provides a comprehensive letter of recommendation to professional health schools, which is a most important part of the graduate admissions package.
Additionally, each semester, informative meetings are held for all pre-professional health students to provide career information, information about prerequisite requirements for the various professional schools, guidance through the application process, and opportunities for shadowing professionals, internships, externships, and research.
Pre-Health Advising is committed to providing resources for our students to stay informed on various careers in the Health Profession Fields. The links to the right may be used as tools to help our students explore and understand the steps necessary for pursuing a career in the Health Professions.
