“The Outlook,” Monmouth’s student-run newspaper, recently earned two awards from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA) in its annual national competition: first place for Best School Newspaper, and Outstanding Sports Coverage.
“I am so proud of our editors and writers. These recognitions and awards are a testament to their hard work and their dedication to excellent journalism,” said Marina Vujnovic, Ph.D., professor of Communication and faculty adviser for the newspaper. “‘The Outlook’ is a great team of student journalists and for me it’s such an honor to serve as their adviser.”
Vujnovic specifically recognized the accomplishments of Abby Brooks, former editor-in-chief, and Isabella Hanna, incoming editor-in-chief, as well as Erin Mulligan, sports editor, and John Spinelli, staff writer.
The 2022 awards marks “The Outlook’s” seventh national championship in the ASPA contest, and the third consecutive win for the University newspaper.
“The Outlook” is one of the longest-running student activities at Monmouth and has been published since the school’s inception as Monmouth Junior College in 1933.
