Monmouth University Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies Center for Professional Development in Nursing will present a Substitute School Nurse Workshop on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Club Dining Room, Magill Commons.
Five and a half contact hours for continuing nursing education will be provided. The Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies at Monmouth University is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver through the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Substitute nurses are needed in many school districts! This class is designed to present an overview of the responsibilities of the Substitute School Nurse.
The following topics will be covered: Certification requirements and employment opportunities; tips and techniques for the management of the school health office; documentation guidelines; examples of district policies for common school health concerns; introduction to diabetes management and insulin pumps; and an overview of emergency protocols with demonstration of the epi-pen, glucogon, and nebulizer.
