The Monmouth University School of Education will hold its annual Fall Literacy Symposium on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in Anacon Hall, Rebecca Stafford Student Center. Educators of preschool through 12th grade can acquire comprehensive techniques and strategies to enhance the teaching of reading and writing and earn professional development hours. A certificate will be awarded to all participants.
The keynote address, “Meeting Common Core State Standards: Preparing Students to Read, Understand, and Respond to Complex Text,” will be presented by Dr. Jeanne Paratore, professor of education and coordinator of the Reading Education and Literacy Education programs at Boston University.
Book signings will be held at the Symposium by author and illustrator duo, Ed Shankman and Dave O’Neill, and authors Sydelle Pearl and Monica Somers. They have a wonderful selection of children’s books and will share their insights on the world of literacy.
In addition, there will be twelve workshops to choose from on a variety of topics.
