Jing Zhou, MFA, professor of graphic and interactive design in the department of Art and Design, presented her work at the 111th CAA (College Art Association of America) Annual Conference on Feb. 16.
At the session “Global Design Practices and Their Socio-Political Impact” organized by the CAA Committee on Design, Zhou presented design research and creative process in her talk “From the Mothers’ Movement to Cradlr: An Interaction Design for Refugee Children.” This panel talk included design practitioners from around the globe whose recent work intersects with pressing socio-political issues such as climate change, threats to human rights and democratic governance, war and climate change refugees, COVID-19, gender equality, and decolonization and self-determination.
The 2023 CAA Annual Conference took place in New York Hilton Midtown, Feb. 15-18. The Committee on Design promotes and advances issues in design practice, design history/theory/criticism, and design education through advocacy, engagement, mentorship, and a commitment to the diversity of practices and practitioners.
