Golam Mathbor, Ph.D., professor and director of Monmouth University’s Doctor of Social Work program, recently served as a panel member for the New York Seminar on the Bangladesh Economy: Opportunity and Challenges at Columbia University.
Mathbor was one of five panelists and presented a speech on the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh independence, the improvement in the country’s economy, and its ability to maintain steady economic growth.
The event was hosted by the Bangladesh Pratidin, the highest circulated newspaper in Bangladesh, with a focus on the country’s developing economy and improvement in its institutions. The seminar additionally unveiled different opportunities and recommendations for confronting challenges the country may face in the future.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest of honor and presented virtually at the event, while Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen presented as the special guest of the seminar.
