Prof. Koning Showing at Currents 2025 Art and Technology Festival

Wobbe F. Koning, MFA, associate professor in the Department of Art and Design, will present his virtual reality project, “VR.Con.Sequence,” at the CURRENTS 2025 Art and Technology Festival.

In this seated VR experience, subtitled “It’s No Game,” users encounter buttons and levers that prompt a series of surreal outcomes, including swimming eyeballs, a large zoetrope, teddy bears, bowls of fire, and additional controls. The work challenges users to discern expectations and confront the consequences of their choices. Monmouth University supported the creation of the project through a creativity and research grant and a summer fellowship.

The CURRENTS Art and Technology Festival highlights innovations at the intersection of contemporary art and technology. The 16th edition will take place at El Museo Cultural in Santa Fe, New Mexico, featuring 72 works by 90 artists during its ten-day run.
