Wobbe F. Koning, MFA, associate professor of animation in the department of Art and Design, received the Craft Prize in Music at the 52nd Annual ASIFA-East Animation Awards for the stop-motion animation “Home, Closed” (2020) on June 2. The festival took place in the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York, and marked the return of in-person events for ASIFA-East.
This is the second time Koning’s work was recognized at the ASIFA-East Animation Awards. In 2018, his 3D printed animation, “Boom > Bust, Vicioius Cycles #1,” received First Prize, Experimental. ASIFA East is the Eastern U.S. chapter of ASIFA, the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation (International Animation Film Association).
