Polling Director Murray Hosts ‘The Science (and Art) of Polling’ March 15

Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, will present “Science On Saturday: The Science (and Art) of Polling” at Princeton University on March 15, 9:30-11 a.m. The event will be held in Maeder Hall and is open to the general public.

Murray’s event will explore the question: is polling really a science? This presentation will discuss the “social science methods that underpin opinion research, its varied applications from business to public policy and how to be a better consumer of what is perhaps its most problematic manifestation – the election poll.”

Patrick Murray was named the Monmouth University Polling Institute’s founding director in 2005. He is frequently called upon by the media to provide commentary on polling and the political world, including appearances on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, PBS, and National Public Radio. During federal election years, Murray also serves as a national exit poll analyst for major networks. In the institute’s home state, Murray has appeared on numerous Power Lists of the most influential people in New Jersey politics.
