The Jersey Shore is not only a popular summer vacation spot but it is also the location of one of the most beautiful coastal campuses in the nation–Monmouth University–according to Best Value Schools (BVS). Monmouth University is the only New Jersey institution included in the “most beautiful coastal campus” list by BVS, a website for prospective students.
Monmouth University students enjoy the beaches, scenery, ocean, and coastal waterways of the Jersey Shore all year-round. Its unique coastal campus sits at the heart of a vibrant culture rich in history, the arts, technology and entrepreneurship. BVS notes, “Students especially enjoy frequenting the Seven Presidents’ Oceanfront Park, a popular New Jersey destination for sunbathing, swimming, surfing, and more.” In addition, “students interested in this beach college who also enjoy urban comforts will be happy to know that Monmouth is a mere 40 miles from New York City.” Monmouth’s proximity to both New York City and Philadelphia and its central location in the northeast corridor provides myriad opportunities for internships and employment.
Located less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean, Monmouth University is a leader in marine science and policy education. Students are engaged in research and policy analysis of the coastal environment through the Urban Coast Institute and Marine and Environmental Biology and Policy program. Monmouth University offers unique classes such as marine archaeology, where students can study in the field and examine the historic shipwrecks along the Jersey coast.
Monmouth University was ranked 27 out of 30 campuses across the country. Colleges were chosen based on the following criteria: location, awards and recognition, student enjoyment, notable features, and other noteworthy factors of the school such as historical significance or environmental friendliness.
