Monmouth University’s Department of University Advancement recently received three 2013 APEX Awards for Publication Excellence.
The Monmouth University Magazine received one award in the Magazines & Journals category for its fall 2012 issue, and a second for an article written by Assistant Editor Heather McCulloch Mistretta, “After Sandy: Hawks are Helping the Jersey Shore Recover and Rebuild,” in the Feature Writing category.
Also receiving an award was Annual Fund Marketing Manager Kevin Scally in the Design & Layout category for his Guatemala Alternative Spring Break e-mail. The email highlights the importance of funding the community service project where Monmouth students help to build infrastructure for the Xepocol community in Guatemala. Over the 2013 break, 20 students helped build a classroom by sifting sand by hand, mixing concrete, and laying cinderblocks.
The 25th Annual APEX Awards competition, which is sponsored by Springfield, VA-based Communications Concepts, Inc., recognizes excellence in publications work by professional communicators. The 2013 competition received about 2,400 entries in 12 major categories.
