Monmouth University has won a 2021 Gold Award in the 8th annual Education Digital Marketing Awards (EDMA). The University was recognized by the EDMA in the category of “Social Media Content – Single” for its video, “A Message to the #Classof2020,” which featured voicemails from parents and loved ones across the Hawk Family congratulating their graduates. The video amassed over 18,000 views across all of the University’s social channels.
“With more than half of our students the first in their family to attend college, graduation for Monmouth seniors is more than a celebration, it is a milestone. During May of 2020, we were unsure when and how we would be able to offer a traditional commencement ceremony or celebration,” said Amanda Klaus’09, Interim Vice President for University Advancement. “Thanks to the creativity of our marketing and communication, and alumni engagement teams, we found a creative and a digital solution to showing not only our graduates, but their families, just how proud we were of their four year commitment and recent perseverance. We collected heartfelt sentiments from our graduates’ siblings, parents, grandparents, the University President, and others to ensure this message was personal, heartfelt, and genuine. Hopefully this conveyed our excitement for their success, and served as a thoughtful introduction into a new phase of their Monmouth relationship – their lifelong connection as an alumnus.”
The Education Digital Marketing Awards recognizes the best educational websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media and social media. A national panel of industry specialists will review each piece, judging creativity, marketing execution, message impact, technology application and innovation content.
