Monmouth University students from Marketing Professor Robert Mika’s graduate promotion strategy class have developed promotional plans for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties this semester. The students will present their work to Big Brothers Big Sisters executives on May 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Bey Hall, Room 222.
The 30 students were split into 10 teams, and each team prepared a detailed promotion plan for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ consideration. Throughout the semester, Professor Mika meets with each team of students to review their research and strategies.
Professor Mika commented, “This is a great opportunity for students to relate the concepts covered in class to a ‘real world’ situation, as well as for the Leon Hess Business School to give back to the community.”
William Salcedo, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties, said: “We are grateful to Monmouth University, Professor Mika, and the students for helping Big Brothers Big Sisters raise awareness about our need for volunteer mentors, particularly males between the ages of 21 and 35. Community support is vital for our organization to continue to provide mentoring for children who need a positive role model in their life.”
