A group of current Monmouth University students and alumni recently participated in a charity running event at Crystal Lake Park, in Bordentown, raising money for six local charities across Monmouth, Middlesex, and Mercer counties.
Business administration graduate students Gavin Hegglin ’22 and Nancy McGrath ’22, senior software engineering major Michael Drews, and alumni James Hoffman ’21 ’22MBA, Michael Pavicic ’22, and Natalie Tavares ’21 ’22M, ran the 4th annual Run as One, a charity 5K and one-mile run event.
The group aided in raising over $20,000 for Frances Foundation, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, ONE Project, Wag On Inn Rescue, Be Kind, and SHINE Charity.
All six runners initially registered for the event in an effort to support multiple organizations, and swept first and second in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
Hegglin, Drews, McGrath, Hoffman, Pavicic, and Tavares are former student-athletes who competed for the University’s cross country and track and field teams.
Run as One’s mission is to embrace our diverse communities, supporting humanity together, inspiring change, and running as one. Rajnarind Kaur, adjunct professor in the Leon Hess Business School, currently serves on the board of Run as One, and encouraged many of her current and former students to participate in the event.
