Golam Mathbor, Ph.D., interim dean and professor in the School of Social Work, recently spoke at the seventh International Conference on “Empowering Communities: The Role of Social Work for Sustainable Future,” in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Mathbor was invited as a guest of honor and delivered his speech via Zoom, discussing the main theme of the conference, “the role of social work in empowering communities for a sustainable future.”
He also highlighted the vital and transformative role of social work in fostering sustainable communities and its ability to drive progress in addressing systemic inequities, inequalities, and injustices in communities.
The hybrid conference included delegates from over 35 counties and was organized by the Community Social Work Practice and Development Foundation.
