Assistant Dean John Tiedemann

Asst. Dean Tiedemann Appointed to the Ocean County Soil Conservation Board of Supervisors

School of Science Assistant Dean John Tiedemann has been appointed to serve on the Ocean County Soil Conservation Board of Supervisors by the State Soil Conservation Committee of the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.

As a district supervisor, Tiedemann will serve as a member of the governing body of the county’s Soil Conservation District and assist the district with assessing local conservation needs and development of conservation programs to address these needs.

The mission of the Ocean County Soil Conservation District is to provide leadership in the planning and implementation of natural resource management programs in the county in coordination with local, state, and federal partners.

Tiedemann has been professionally employed in the marine and environmental field since 1979. He holds a B.S. in Physics and Planetary Science from Upsala College and a M.S. in Oceanography from the Florida Institute of Technology. Tiedemann, the director of Monmouth University’s Marine and Environmental Biology and Policy Program, regularly teaches courses on environmental biology and policy and coastal zone management.
