In olden days, a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking, now, heaven knows, ANYTHING GOES!
The Monmouth University Department of Music and Theatre Arts will present the classic American musical Anything Goes, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter (original book by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse), during November in the historic Woods Theatre. The musical will run November 4 through 15.
The show, which debuted in 1934, introduced such classic American standards as “You’re the Top” and “I Get A Kick Out of You,” as well as the title tune, “Anything Goes.” Proof of its popularity is the repeated revivals on Broadway, most recently in 2011 by the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City.
Directed by John Burke, Ph.D., the cast includes Molly Huber (Reno Sweeney), Kim Kallok (Hope Harcourt), Samantha Myers (Evangeline), Evan Kudish (Lord Evelyn Harcourt), Stephen Lang (Elisha Whitney), Jacob Turchi (Billy Crocker), Kevin Ospina (Moonface Martin), and Katryna Cordova (Erma).
Angels and Sailors are portrayed by Kelly Faxon, Grace Guippone, Natalie Mullamaci, Grace Vanmeter, Stephen Lang, Evan Kudish, Chris Tuttle, Abdelkader Belhadj, and Joeseph Toscano.
Ensemble includes Sierra Stanton, Alexa Jacobsen, Aaliyah Jordan, Erin Clemente, and Danielle Parter. Stage manager is Kiana Besa and assistant stage manager is Gianna DeSantis.
Showtimes are at 8 p.m. (3pm on Sundays) from November 4 to 15. Ticket prices are $25 for regular adult admission; $20 for senior citizens, alumni and MU employees; $10 for non-Monmouth University students; and FREE for Monmouth Students.
