Zachary Dougherty ’23 was recently named to the No. 28 spot on InsiderNJ’s 2023 Insider 100: Millennials List. This is Dougherty’s fifth consecutive year appearing on the list of rising political leaders who are working “to bring about a fairer, freer, and more just society.”
Also representing Monmouth on the list of emerging talents in New Jersey politics for a fifth consecutive year at No. 36 is alumna Samantha DeAlmeida ’12 ’14M ’18M. Appearing on the list for the first time at No. 90 is alumna Morganne Dudzinski ’12 ’13M.
As “an active voice for younger residents since he was in his teens,” Dougherty, a Monmouth County native with a B.A. in History and Political Science, is lauded by InsiderNJ for “spearheading efforts that include the recently-established NJ Legislative Youth Council,” where Dougherty currently serves as 10th Legislative District Youth Council Representative.
DeAlmeida, who earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and two master’s degrees in public policy and homeland security at Monmouth, is currently president of the Associated Builders and Contractors of New Jersey. The young Republican is a “rising labor force and a respected voice” who recently oversaw a summer program to introduce trades to middle school students.
Currently the interim executive director for the New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities (NJASCU), Dudzinski earned her B.A. in communication and M.A. in public policy at Monmouth. With a background in non-profit and education communications, she previously served as director of news and public affairs at Monmouth University, and as a staffer to former Senator Jennifer Beck.
