Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) face many challenges in health professions. This workshop will be facilitated by two graduate students and a faculty mentor in the Department of Speech Language Pathology. The first part consists of a 15-min focus group discussion related to attitudes and perceptions about the AAPI community and the representation of the AAPI community with health professions being offered at Monmouth University (e.g., Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Social Work). The second part consists of reading stories from AAPI members related to systemic racism and drawing illustrations to represent these stories.
