As discussed in the training sessions, employees’ accrual paid-time off (PTO) balances and usage are now calculated in hours instead of days.
Please refer to the following sections to obtain further information that will assist you in getting acclimated to this new method.
DAYS TO HOURS CONVERSION
Your accrual (paid-time off) balances were converted from Hawkeye/wIntegrate by multiplying your amounts for each day-type by the length of your authorized normal work shift. For most employees, this number is 7.25 or 8 hours. A few employees have shift of alternate durations.
When viewing your current accrual balances at the bottom of your Timecard in the new time and attendance system, you will see the quantities expressed in hours. In order to know how many days this equals, you can divide by your normal shift length or use the handy charts listed below.
Please select the one that applies to you. If you are unsure which one to choose, please contact the Office of Human Resources.

MONTHLY ACCRUAL EARNING RATES
Sick leave and vacation time is earned monthly on the employee’s anniversary date. Collective bargaining agreements and the non-faculty employee handbook indicate the waiting periods and annual amounts that each employee is eligible to accrue.
You can utilize the following charts to translate the earnings amount from “days per year” and “days per month” to “hours per month” so that you can monitor the quantities of sick leave and vacation time that is reflected in the new time and attendance system. Please select the shift length that applies to you:
