Prescription coverage is provided through a formulary, in-network benefit program. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of full-time continuous employment. The prescription program is available to employees who are enrolled in the University’s Group Medical Insurance Program.
For Pharmacy
There is a $10 co-payment for generic drugs purchased at a retail pharmacy, a $25 co-payment for
preferred brand name drugs purchased at a retail pharmacy, and a $50 co-payment for all other
non-preferred generic or non-preferred brand name drugs purchased at a retail pharmacy.
Prescription drugs purchased at an in-network retail pharmacy may be filled for quantities up to a 90-day supply. One prescription co-payment will be collected for each increment of a 30-day supply of prescription drugs purchased at a retail pharmacy.
For Mail Order
There is a $20 co-payment for generic drugs when purchased through mail order, a $50 co-payment for preferred brand name drugs purchased through mail order, and a $100 co-payment for all other non-preferred generic or non-preferred brand name drugs purchased through mail order. One prescription co-payment will be collected for each increment of a 90-day supply. Members who use PrimeMail home delivery service will have their prescriptions filled by Walgreens Mail Service pharmacy. PrimeMail by Walgreens Mail Service will provide members with the same convenience service and access to their maintenance medications. Members should use the same phone number printed on their prescription label. You will be redirected from PrimeMail to Walgreens to set up an account but your information should appear once you register at the Walgreens site. This change in mail order process does not affect the retail pharmacy network. Specialty Pharmacy
Certain special pharmaceuticals must be obtained from one of the contracted specialty pharmacies. Special pharmacies are considered “retail pharmacies” are always subject to the retail co-payment levels even when purchased through the mail order option.
