This program will provide 5 contact hours for nurses.
The course is designed to enhance the physical assessment skills of the healthcare provider who cares for the school age child. A step-by-step process for physical exam will be reviewed. Using images and a case study format, participants are guided to describe and identify physical findings. Clinical guidelines and standards of care are incorporated throughout.
Desired Learning Outcomes: at completion of this program participants will apply the clinical knowledge gained in the assessment and care of the school age child.
Topics will include:
- An overview of normal and abnormal findings in health screenings
- Common pediatric disease and disorders
- The process & procedure for the assessment of the ear including demonstration of the otoscope
- Vaccine preventable disease update
