This course examines lesser-known inspirations for some of their most well-known songs as well as rock and roll itself. British Music Hall, Blue Beat (predecessor to ska and reggae), swamp pop, the avant garde, and more will be explored In addition to multimedia presentations, class discussion and activities will enable attendees to identify elements of these genres in the Beatles’ music.
