With new advances in technology, the way we consume music through our devices, apps and on demand streaming services like Pandora, Spotify and iTunes is making the idea of the “album” as an art form extinct. Get together with other music enthusiasts on Tuesday nights to discuss some of the greatest records of all-time! Listen to the album beforehand and then come prepared to discuss… there will be special guest moderators and panelists at each event! This event will feature John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme.

Kiss The Sky- The World’s Greatest Jimi Hendrix Show plays Monmouth University Center for The Arts Pollak Theatre with special guests Heavy Cream’s salute to Cream. This night will be a trip back in Rock n Roll history as it recreates some of the most iconic music of 1968 produced by the two artists who famously turned a rivalry into friendship and mutual admiration for each other.
Favorites from Hendrix’s landmark 1968 album “Electric Ladyland” and Cream’s powerhouse “Wheels of Fire” will highlight the evening.
Soprano Anna Netrebko sings her first Met Aida, with mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili as her formidable rival Amneris. Aleksandrs Antonenko is the warrior Radamès, and Nicola Luisotti takes the podium for the Met’s monumental production.
“Words & Music,” Monmouth University’s Grammy Affiliate program offers an intimate conversation with the musician and writers of our day. Hosted by Dean Kenneth Womack, the series will be convened at the University’s LakeHouse Studios space and attendees will enjoy the opportunity to interact with some of the most exciting and vibrant artists of our times. Jack Ford is a Peabody and Emmy Award-winning journalist. His latest novel is Chariot on the Mountain, the true story of a runaway slave’s extraordinary dash towards freedom in the Old South’s pre-Civil War years.

Saint-Saëns’s biblical epic Samson et Dalila stars Elīna Garanča and Roberto Alagna in the title roles; the pair was last seen together by HD audiences in the acclaimed 2010 transmission of Bizet’s Carmen. Laurent Naouri co-stars as the High Priest, with Elchin Azizov as the Philistine King Abimélech and Dmitry Belosselskiy as the Old Hebrew. Darko Tresnjak, the Tony Award–winning director of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, makes his Met debut directing the first new Met production of the opera in 20 years. Sir Mark Elder conducts.
