Giselle

Pollak Theatre

When Giselle learns that her beloved Albrecht is promised to another woman, she dies of a broken heart in his arms. While Albrecht grieves, she returns from the dead as a Wili, a vengeful spirit meant to make unfaithful men dance until death…

Prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova personifies this ultimate ballerina role in the classical repertoire, alongside the sensational Sergei Polunin as Albrecht, in this chilling, yet luminous ballet that continues to captivate audiences for over 150 years at the Bolshoi.

Doo Wop Explosion III “A Celebration of Acapella Harmony”

Pollak Theatre

For the third year in a row, our celebration of doo wop acapella harmony returns to Monmouth University’s Pollak Theatre. Born on the street corners of urban America, rhythm & blues and doo wop singing reached its peak in the 1950’s, and still has a strong following today. While doo wop singing began as an African American art form, by the late 1950’s it was enjoyed by singers of all races. Doo wop harmony in its purist form is acapella (without instruments or musical tracks).
