DiMattio Gallery at Rechnitz Hall

A retrospective of work by Vincent DiMattio celebrating his 50 years as a professor in Monmouth University’s Department of Art & Design. Professor DiMattio earned his MFA from Southern Illinois University and his BFA from Massachusetts College of Art. He joined the University’s faculty in 1968 where he served as the department chair for 13 years and as gallery director for more than 20 years. He was largely responsible for starting the gallery program at Monmouth University.

The American Soldier

Douglas Taurel (“Nurse Jackie,” “Blue Bloods”) is the creator and star of the Off-Broadway Award-nominated solo play, “The American Soldier,” based on true events and documentary letters written by veterans and their family members from the American Revolution through current-day Afghanistan. It honors the experiences of veterans and their families and explores the internal struggles they face when returning home from combat. “The American Soldier” has been nominated for the Amnesty International Award for theatre excellence The American Soldier has been nominated for the Amnesty International Award, received 4 stars internationally, and has been featured in The Huffington Post, The Washington Post and Time Out.

Kiss The Sky- The World’s Greatest Jimi Hendrix Show plays Monmouth University Center for The Arts Pollak Theatre with special guests Heavy Cream’s salute to Cream. This night will be a trip back in Rock n Roll history as it recreates some of the most iconic music of 1968 produced by the two artists who famously turned a rivalry into friendship and mutual admiration for each other.
Favorites from Hendrix’s landmark 1968 album “Electric Ladyland” and Cream’s powerhouse “Wheels of Fire” will highlight the evening.
