Samson et Dalila (Camille Saint-Saëns)
Pollak TheatreSaint-Saëns’s biblical epic Samson et Dalila stars Elīna Garanča and Roberto Alagna in the title roles; the pair was last seen together by HD audiences in the acclaimed 2010 transmission of Bizet’s Carmen. Laurent Naouri co-stars as the High Priest, with Elchin Azizov as the Philistine King Abimélech and Dmitry Belosselskiy as the Old Hebrew. Darko Tresnjak, the Tony Award–winning director of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, makes his Met debut directing the first new Met production of the opera in 20 years. Sir Mark Elder conducts.

The Hunts
Pollak TheatreKnown for their harmony-laced take on alt-folk, The Hunts are a Chesapeake, Virginia-based band of seven siblings who’ve been playing music together almost their entire lives. Twin sisters Jessi and Jenni and five brothers Josh, Jonathan, Jordan, Justin, and Jamison, now ranging in age from 26 down to 17, learned to sing and play violin as young kids and spent much of their childhood performing in their community. After widening their following and playing at theaters, festivals and universities around the country—and teaching themselves to play instruments like mandolin, piano, ukulele, banjo, and drums — The Hunts started experimenting with songwriting and soon brought to life a batch of songs that reveal their sophisticated sense of melody and undeniably dreamy innocence.

The Lavender Scare is the first documentary film to tell the little-known story of an unrelenting campaign by the federal government to identify and fire all employees suspected of being homosexual. In 1953, President Eisenhower declared gay men and lesbians to be a threat to the security of the country and therefore unfit for government service. In doing so, he triggered the longest witch hunt in American history.

Get together with other music enthusiasts on Tuesday nights to discuss some of the greatest records of all-time! Listen to the album beforehand and then come prepared to discuss… there will be special guest moderators and panelists at each event! This event will feature The Beatles’ THE WHITE ALBUM.
The Beatles’ THE WHITE ALBUM: An International Symposium
Welcome to the academic conference series sponsored by the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music. Convened on the beautiful campus of Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey, the conference will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ 1968 classic LP The Beatles, later popularized as The White Album.
Pre-conference activities will commence on Thursday, November 8th, and conclude on the afternoon of Sunday, November 11th. The conference will welcome an international roster of participants, as well as a host of keynote speakers and musical acts celebrating the lives and works of the Beatles.

Pollak TheatreNico Muhly’s Marnie, based on Winston Graham’s novel, which in turn inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s suspenseful thriller, has its U.S. premiere at the Met this season. Isabel Leonard stars in the title role opposite Christopher Maltman as her blackmailing husband Mark Rutland, Iestyn Davies as his brother Terry, Janis Kelly as Mrs. Rutland, and acclaimed mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves as Marnie’s mother. Robert Spano makes his company debut conducting.
