Monmouth University Music and Arts Festival 2020
The Monmouth University Music and Arts Festival will provide Monmouth County communities, along with the students, faculty, and staff at Monmouth University, with the opportunity to enjoy a top-flight music and arts event each summer. Every year, we welcome thousands of tourists and other visitors to the area, and we’re delighted to afford families with cultural opportunities to supplement their days at our lovely beaches. This year, of course, we are presenting the Music and Arts Festival virtually. With the help of cutting-edge contemporary technology, our performers are delighted to afford our community with a great boon during these challenging times.

Electo Electro 2020 – Interactive Workshop and Artist Talk
VirtualElecto Electro 2020 is an interactive installation combining audience participation, music, news footage, and politics. The project allows participants to remix videos from political rallies, debates, and news in a structured sixteen beat loop. The touchscreen design is a parody of the system employed by the Accuvote, a voting system that is difficult to audit and susceptible to hacking. The parody continues into the format of the installation itself which will resemble a polling station. There will be an artist talk at 6:00 followed by a Max MSP Jitter workshop at 7:30 pm.

Secret Impressionists – Virtual Event Cinema
VirtualSecret Impressionists reveals the story of the art revolution sparked by the Impressionist movement of the late 1800s. The art-documentary unveils 50 previously unseen works by Impressionist masters Manet, Caillebotte, Renoir, Monet, Cézanne, Signac, Sisley, and Morisot.

Hermitage: The Power of Art – Virtual Event Cinema
VirtualA spectacular documentary event tours through St. Petersburg’s State Hermitage Museum, a wonderful complex of buildings with the largest collection of paintings in the world, to retrace two and a half centuries. Audiences pass through the magnificent interiors that provided a meeting point for foreign artists, architects and intellectuals creating connections through art and culture.

The Fine Art of Denim
Pollak GalleryEXHIBITION EXTENDED UNTIL OCTOBER 14!! Monmouth University’s Center for the Arts is pleased to present The Fine Art of Denim, a juried exhibition of artists who use recycled denim in new and creative ways. The works featured in this exhibit come from artists all over the United States and abroad. Pieces were selected from almost 100 entries by juror Vincent DiMattio, an accomplished artist and Monmouth University Professor in the Department of Art and Design, where he has taught for over 50 years and served as department chair and as gallery director for more than 20 years.

Pollak GalleryIn recognition of their 50th Anniversary, Monmouth Arts is reflecting on their journey over the past half-century as well as where they’re headed. The Center for the Arts is pleased to partner with Monmouth Arts to present the group show, Journey, an exhibition of works by Monmouth Arts members that express “Journey” as it relates to each artist’s experience.

Souls Shot Portrait Project
Pollak GalleryThe Souls Shot Portrait Project pairs fine artists with families and friends of victims of gun violence. The artists create portraits using diverse approaches and emphasize the individuality and uniqueness of the victims portrayed. The project began in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2016, and the resulting exhibitions have featured many talented artists throughout the years.
