Songwriting: Unlocking Your Creativity
This three session virtual course, taught by Jay Sweet, provides participants with techniques to help give directions and creative elements that will help unlock the potential of active and aspiring songwriters. The workshop will also provide a supportive outlet for those songwriters looking to share their works for evaluation or for those looking to learn from others’ processes.

Puccini’s Madama Butterfly tells the heart-wrenching story of a young Japanese geisha who clings to the belief that her new husband, a visiting American naval officer, will stay faithful and return to her. In this live transmission from 2016, soprano Kristine Opolais stars as Cio-Cio-San, with tenor Roberto Alagna as Lt. Pinkerton, in Anthony Minghella’s beautiful, atmospheric production. WOMAN AT WAR – VIRTUAL PANEL DISCUSSION
Join us for a World Cinema Series zoom discussion illuminating the theme “A Delicate Balance: Global Communities and the Natural World” by analyzing the message and impact the 2018 film, Woman at War. Set in Iceland the film is a drama, with moments of whimsical comedy, about Halla, a 50-year old environmental activist determined to halt the construction of a new aluminum smelter near Reykjavik by destroying power lines and thwarting negotiations between the government of Iceland and a corporation and community eager to see the contracts awarded. Yet, it is her personal, ethical crisis that brings this drama, based on actual events, to a stirring conclusion.
