Equipment: Hardware and Software
- A computer system with access to the internet/web, to the MU online portal, and to e-mail and word processing applications. Your computer must be robust enough to utilize current web browsers and download files in a reasonable amount of time.
- Minimum standards for a PC or Apple desktop or laptop:
- Dual core processor / Intel processor
- 4 GB RAM
- 320 GB hard drive
- DVD drive
- Minimum recommended operating system:
- PC: Windows 7 or newer
- Apple: MAC OS X 10.8 or newer
- Microsoft Office 2013 for PC; Microsoft Office 2011 for MAC
- An Internet connection to access online courses and materials; high-speed access such as cable internet on DSL.
- An internet web browser:
- Mozilla Firefox 24 or newer
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft I.E. 10 or newer
- Apple Safari 6 or newer
- A Monmouth University student login account. This will be provided to all students after initial course registrations.
- Current active malware protection software
- Extended warranty program or Apple Care support
Computer Skills
- Students should be knowledgeable about their computer’s specifications, specifically the operating system and browser. This information will be needed if you contact the MU Help Desk for technical assistance.
- Basic word processing to create documents.
- Ability to use e-mail including working with attachments.
- Familiarity with presentation software (e.g. Microsoft Power Point) to create slides or displays
- Internet skills to navigate the WEB to access data, upload and download

Hawkmail
Monmouth University students will be provided with a unique LOGIN to access their MU Hawkmail account. Additional information will be provided as part of the orientation materials.
WebAdvisor / My MU Portal
The Monmouth University portal used to access your biographic information, review your grades and transcript, access your degree audit and register for classes. Additional information will be provided with the orientation materials, as well as a tutorial on how to use WebAdvisor.
e-Forms
Monmouth students are provided with online forms, used to transact business with offices. Information will be provided with the orientation.
