Rashida Scott-Cruz has been an adjunct professor of the Music Industry program since 2016. Her frequently taught courses include “The Business of Music” and “Music Industry Experiential Learning”. On Nov. 11, 2022, she was nominated for the GRAMMY Museum 2024 Music Educator Award for making a remarkable impact on students who attend high-quality schools of music programs.
Rashida created the “Music Industry Webinar Series” for students to enhance their micro-credentials and entrepreneurial skills through applied knowledge. She is also a founding member and co-executive of Monmouth Artists for Diversity and Inclusion (M.A.D.I.). She served as executive producer of “Blue Hawk Records’ presents M.A.D.I. Volume One“; through that record, all founding members and artists were awarded a gubernatorial and senatorial proclamation from the State of New Jersey for innovation in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within higher education. M.A.D.I. was created to inspire students in creating original lyrics, compositions, and art inspired by social issues, and social justice while promoting peace through music.
Rashida is also a champion for the underrepresentation of women in the music industry and works with organizations to change the narrative.
