Executive Summary

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Monmouth University is dedicated to fostering a community of competent, compassionate, and creative clinicians. Our mission is to provide a rigorous academic and clinical education that prepares students to become leaders in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Vision and Mission

Our vision is to be New Jersey’s premier graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology, where students transform into skilled practitioners through evidence-based education, clinical practice, and scholarly opportunities. Our mission is to offer a comprehensive student experience that includes challenging academics, diverse clinical opportunities, and active participation in research guided by experts in the field.

Strategic Goals

  1. Increase access to graduate SLP study through alternative courses of study designed for working adults.
  2. Enhance community access to services through the Center for Speech and Language Disorders.
  3. Differentiate Monmouth University’s M.S.Ed. in SLP academic and clinical experiences from other programs.
  4. Elevate the M.S.Ed. in SLP program’s visibility within and outside the university.

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

Progress toward meeting the objectives laid out in the strategic plan is regularly assessed by the program director. Results are presented during departmental faculty meetings as well as at every departmental retreat.
