The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars serves colleges and universities by providing selected students with challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C. This year, Monmouth University has 13 students participating in the Washington Center Semester Internship. The typical internship includes a 4½-days-a-week professional work experience in an agency tailored to the student’s interests; Monmouth students have interned in the White House, the United States Congress, and the Department of Defense, to name a few. Students also enroll in an academic course and participate in the Washington Forum, a public policy lecture series.

Several of our recent graduates secured prestigious full-time positions in Washington, D.C., after showcasing their talents in the Washington Center Semester Internship program. Alexandria Matz, for example, recently started her career working as a foreign affairs officer in the U.S. State Department. Alexandria will be working on U.S. foreign relations with India. In addition, Steven Scarano secured a position in the U.S. Senate after interning in Washington.
