The Department of Biology within the School of Science provides students with a breadth of knowledge in the biological sciences. With the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean only one mile from campus, students are able to take advantage of these nearby “natural classrooms” and gain the knowledge and experience to meet future goals – including graduate or professional school, or career choices in fields such as medicine and teaching.
Biology students have exciting opportunities to take part in undergraduate research directed by the department’s distinguished faculty. From Dr. Pedram Daneshgar’s terrestrial ecology lab, to Professor John Tiedemann’s tropical ecology trip to the Bahamas, these hands-on learning opportunities equip students with the background, career networks, and problem-solving skills they will need after graduation.
