Q: Does the University still accept credit cards as a form of payment?
Yes, the University will continue to accept credit cards as a payment method for student accounts
Q:  Is there a service fee when using a credit card?
Yes, a nonrefundable service fee is assessed to all credit card payments remitted towards tuition, fees, room & board, and other charges posted onto students’ accounts.  It is currently 2.95% of the payment remitted for domestic transactions, 4.25% for international transactions, or a minimum of $3.00. Please note that this service fee is NOT collected by Monmouth University.
Q: How can I make a credit card payment on my student account?
You must access the Monmouth University Student Bill & Payment Center to process your credit card payment online.
Q: Will I be able to make a credit card payment for my tuition and fees by mail or calling in my credit card information?
No, the University will no longer be accepting credit or debit card payments for your tuition and fees over the telephone.
Q: Can I make a credit card payment for my tuition and fees in person at the Cashier’s Office?
Yes, when arriving at the Cashier’s Office you will be presented with an iPad that will be configured to allow you to execute your credit card payment on the Student Bill & Payment Center. Employees in the Cashier’s Office will assist you in answering any questions you have with this process.
Q: Who can make credit card payments on my student account?
You, your parents, and your corporate sponsors can conveniently make payments with credit or debit cards in a secure, compliant processing environment.
Q: Why is the service fee 2.95%? How was that percentage established?
It is currently 2.95% of the payment remitted for domestic transactions, 4.25% for international transactions, or a minimum of $3.00 is the amount established by the credit card processor, TouchNet PayPath Service. This fee covers the credit card transaction fees charged by the credit card companies.
Q: Do other colleges and universities charge a service fee for credit card transactions?
Yes, an increasing number of schools are collecting service or convenience fees for credit/debit card transactions. These fees offset the merchant fees imposed by the credit card companies and allows the University to offer the service of credit card payments.
Q: How can I pay my student account and avoid the service fee?
You may make payment via electronic check (ACH) or paper check and not incur the service fee. In addition, you can mail paper checks to Monmouth University, Attention: Cashier’s Office; 400 Cedar Avenue, West Long Branch, NJ 07764. Cash payments are also accepted at the Cashier’s Office located in the Great Hall Annex.
Q: If a credit card payment is made in error, will the service fee be refunded?
The service fee is non-refundable, even if the payment to which it relates is canceled, refunded, credited, or charged back.
Q: Will the service fee that I am charged show on my Monmouth University student account?
No. The service fee is charged by a third-party company, TouchNet, and it will not show on your student account summary on the Student Bill & Payment Center nor on your student account statement.
Q: How will this appear on my credit card statement?
You will see two separate transactions on your credit card statement: one for the student account payment, and one for the service fee.
Q: Will I or my authorized users be able to store my credit card information for future use?
No. You will not be able to store credit card information for future use. However, you will continue to be able to schedule credit card installment payments using the TouchNet Payment Plan and store ACH payment method information for future use.
Q: Where can I view my PayPath payment history?
PayPath payments will not be listed as part of the Payment History tab in the Student Account Center. Students will see their PayPath payments as part of the Account Activity.
Q: Will I or my authorized user be notified that my previously stored credit card information has been removed?
Yes. When the University switches to TouchNet PayPath you will receive an email notification that your current payment method has been removed. Also, your saved credit card information located under
‘Saved Payment Methods’ will be labeled as “No Longer Accepted”. Saved ACH payment methods are not impacted by this change.
Q: Can I schedule installments in my Payment Plan using a credit card?
Yes. You can continue to schedule current and future installments for your Payment Plan in TouchNet.
