Applicants to the B.A. in Music or B.A. in Music with Endorsement in K-12 Education in Music programs are required to audition as part of the admission process.
Please note: Auditions are NOT required for the B.A in Music with Concentration in Music Industry or the B.A in Music with Concentration in Musical Theatre.

Requirements for the Music/Music Education audition:
Voice
- Two scales (2 octaves if possible). In addition, please perform a chromatic scale from the bottom of your range to the top and back again.
- Selection of solo pieces:
- Classical Repertoire: Art songs and arias from the classical literature.
- Jazz/Contemporary Repertoire: Any piece selection from the American Song Book (Gershwin, Porter)
Instrumental (Strings, Winds, Brass, Percussion, Drum set)
- Two scales (2 octaves if possible). In addition, please perform a chromatic scale from the bottom of your range to the top and back again.
- Selection of solo pieces:
- Classical Repertoire: -Two solo pieces that demonstrate contrasting styles and tempos. A substantial etude or a single movement of a piece such as a sonata or concerto may be used.
- Jazz/Contemporary Repertoire: One up-tempo tune and one ballad, including one improvised chorus within the presentation of the medium tempo and up-tempo tunes.
- Drum set: Demonstrate a mid-tempo rock groove; perform 16 bars of the following time feels using sticks: Swing in 4/4 and 3/4, Bossa Nova, and Shuffle. Perform 16 bars in Swing 4/4 time using brushes
