The Division of University Advancement furthers Monmouth University’s academic mission by fostering meaningful and lasting relationships that promote advocacy, pride, and philanthropy.

Under the leadership of Vice President Amanda Klaus, the division seeks to continually enhance the value and visibility of Monmouth University among alumni, friends, partners, and philanthropic supporters.

Klaus reports directly to the president of Monmouth University and is responsible for the overall management, strategy and direction of University Advancement, which includes defining the strategies and setting the goals and objectives related to comprehensive development initiatives.

Dement is the primary University liaison with federal, state, and local elected officials as well as government agencies and regional community organizations. He serves as the University’s chief lobbyist and advocate, and as political and policy advisor to campus leadership on government and community issues.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council, 180 Turning Lives Around, the Long Branch Chamber of Commerce, and the Monmouth County Workforce Development Board. He also serves on the board of the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce Educational Foundation, where he is a former chair, and is a past-president and a current member of the Rotary Club of Long Branch.

Hans oversees the Stewardship and Donor Relations team, which supports efforts to acknowledge, retain, and grow donor support through events, communications, and personal interactions. She sets the goals, strategies, and objectives to support the Office of the President, six academic schools, centers of excellence, and functional units through stewardship initiatives and programs designed to acknowledge, retain, and grow donor support.

The Stewardship and Donor Relations team collaborates with colleagues within University Advancement and across campus to provide stewardship for members of the four recognition societies – the Legacy Society (donors who have the university in their estate plans), Vision Society (donors whose cumulative giving exceeds $100,000), President’s Society (donors who give $1,000+ annually), and Monmouth Loyal (consecutive donors for two or more years) – while overseeing impact reporting of gifts to support all areas of Monmouth University, scholarships, programs, athletics, and capital projects.  Her team oversees the University’s scholarship program, recognition societies, marquee events, and donor recognition ceremonies.

The Executive Director sets the strategic direction and delivery of career support to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the growing alumni network. The Executive Director oversees a team of career counselors and employer relations staff, aimed at providing students with customized career guidance, including networking assistance, company exploration, and industry-specific job and internship opportunities. A key department within the University Advancement division, Career Development works to leverage and enhance corporate and employer relations—through alumni and friends—aimed at bolstering student outcomes and placements at top-tier, reputable companies. The Career Development team works to connect quality employers to the Hawk Network through virtual and on-campus recruiting, career fairs, and online postings.

Delaine Sarraf ’08 serves as the assistant to the vice president for University Advancement—and the warm, welcoming voice and face of the office. In this role, Sarraf aids the vice president’s office in an effort to ensure strong, efficient operations and administrative support throughout the entire University Advancement division. More specifically, Sarraf helps to maintain administrative functions for the vice president specifically with alumni, donors, and friends, and in conjunction with the division’s leadership team, the Development office, and associated committees of the Board of Trustees.

Prior to this position, Sarraf worked in the Office of Graduate Studies, the Office of the President, Monmouth University’s Guggenheim Memorial Library, and in University Advancement’s annual fund. Sarraf is a proud Monmouth University alumna, having completed her bachelor’s degree in communication in 2008 and a 20+ year member of the University’s employee family.

Lindsay Wood

In her role, Wood sets the goals, strategies, and objectives for engaging alumni and friends through events, mass communications, and personal interactions, to increase advocacy and financial support for the University. She is responsible for annual giving campaigns, which include direct mail, e-appeals, crowdfunding, texting, giving days, and other web-based appeals to support specific projects and unrestricted funds. She also works closely with the University’s Alumni Association Board of Directors to develop and support collaborative initiatives designed to engage alumni as advocates and donors.
