This exhilarating musical follows the journey of Motown founder Berry Gordy as he goes from featherweight boxer to music mogul. Gordy launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few. The venue for the production is the Lunt-Fontane Theater at 205 West 46th Street. The bus will leave the Rebecca Stafford Student Center at 10:00 a.m., leaving time for lunch or a stroll around the theater district before the show at 2:00 p.m. We will leave Manhattan around 4:30 p.m. for the return trip to campus. The cost of ticket and transportation is $88. Seats are limited.
Relay for Life kickoff is Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Wilson Auditorium. The fun starts at 2:30 p.m., so feel free to join in and learn more about how you can become part of the Relay event here at Monmouth University. Annually, Monmouth University along with the American Cancer Society team up in the effort to remember those people in our lives lost to cancer; survivors celebrate all they have overcome, and we all raise funds to take action against the disease. If you are interested in our first trip to the Amish Country, please contact Jennifer Steinke in the Office of Human Resources. We plan to visit the Plain and Fancy Farm in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and enjoy an Amish home-style feast. Other exhibits will include the Amish Experiential Theater, visits to a schoolroom and family home, as well as viewing the critically acclaimed film Jacob's Choice. Plans are in place for the Suburban Coach bus to depart the Rebecca Stafford Student Center at 8:00 a.m. and return at 8:00 p.m. Cost is $75 for adults and $63 for children under 12 and includes transportation.
The Bronx Zoo is a full-day event that includes such features as the Wild Asia Monorail, Butterfly Garden, Bug Carousel, Children's Zoo, Gorilla Forest, and a 4-D Theater, not to mention access to the Zoo Shuttle. The cost of an adult Total Experience Ticket is $40 and includes transportation. Children under the age of 12 will pay $35, and also includes transportation.
