Welcome to Monmouth University’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). The Center is a resource for all faculty members, tenured, tenure track, and adjunct. It is a place where faculty members can hone their teaching, share their scholarship,
and mentor their colleagues. Together, we seek to develop skills, learn new methods and stay abreast of the latest pedagogical techniques and technologies.
As Monmouth University engages in the strategic planning process, CETL is poised to encourage discussion and facilitate dialog on
promoting the central themes of personalized learning experience, program relevance, global and cultural awareness, and creating a community of teaching, scholarship, and collaboration.
Albert Einstein once said, “I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.” At CETL, our
goal is to enhance student learning by promoting excellence in teaching and learning. Engaging students in research, and bringing our scholarship to enhance teaching complement learning.
CETL also seeks to encourage an environment of mentoring for faculty. Mentoring is a critical component of faculty development and leads to higher faculty satisfaction and achievement, which in turn has positive impacts in the classroom.
CETL is constantly striving to offer opportunities for us to become better teachers, scholars, mentors, and colleagues.
“I'm not a teacher: only a fellow traveler of whom you asked the way. I pointed ahead - ahead of myself as well as you.”
-- George Bernard Shaw.
Let us undertake that journey ahead together.
