National Remembrance Day Roll Call at Monmouth University on Veterans Day

Monmouth University will participate in the National Remembrance Day Roll Call, a synchronized reading of the names of the service members killed in the line of duty since September 11, 2001, on Veteran’s Day, November 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The nationwide grass-roots effort has more than 65 colleges and universities participating in 2014. The names of more than 6,800 military personnel who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan will be read aloud by Monmouth University employees and students at the ceremony.

The event, sponsored by Monmouth University’s Office of Veteran Services, will take place at the 9/11 Veterans Memorial, which is located across from the entrance to the Rebecca Stafford Student Center. The podium is engraved with the message “Here stands once more a symbol to 9/11 Heroes and America’s Military Veterans.” The podium support was made from a beam pulled from the wreckage of the World Trade Center site.
