Monmouth University School of Social Work “Art Take Away for Education” Event Raised $8,700 for Student Scholarships

Monmouth University’s School of Social Work held a fundraising event on June 20 as a kickoff event to celebrate its 40th anniversary, which begins in the 2014-2015 academic year. The event, “Art Take Away for Education,” raised $8,700 for the School’s graduate student scholarship fund. Over 50 guests attended the event and took home a professionally framed fine art reproduction or an original piece of art from local artists as well as artists from the school’s overseas field internship sites in Vietnam, Chile and Rwanda.

“Our first event was a huge success and I look forward to celebrating our anniversary throughout the year,” said Robin Mama, dean of the School of Social Work. “Forty years of preparing social workers at either the baccalaureate level, or since 1998, at the graduate level is quite an accomplishment. I am proud of our alumni and their achievements.”

Monmouth University’s School of Social Work is built around the ideals of advancing human rights and social justice.
