Monmouth University Celebrates the Inauguration of its Eighth President, Paul R. Brown, on April 10

The inauguration of Dr. Paul R. Brown as eighth president of Monmouth University will be held on April 10 at 2 p.m. on the outside steps of Wilson Hall. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Pollak Theatre.

Robert B. Sculthorpe, a 1963 graduate of the university and chair of the Board of Trustees, will preside over the inauguration. The ceremony will begin with an academic procession of trustees, faculty, employees, and guests. Secretary of Higher Education Rochelle Hendricks will provide greetings from the New Jersey higher education community.

During the ceremony, President Brown will deliver the inauguration address and receive the Chain of Office from the board chair. The President wears the Chain of Office at formal academic occasions, and it will be passed on to future presidents of Monmouth University, symbolizing an unbroken chain of leadership.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception will be held in Wilson Hall featuring the performance of arias by Mozart and Puccini by two Monmouth University students, Kelly Thomas and Carolina Caravalho.

The ceremony will be broadcast live via webcast at www.monmouth.edu.

Brown, a respected academic leader and renowned scholar, became the eighth president of Monmouth University on August 1, 2013.
