MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY TO RECEIVE EXCELLENCE IN TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION AWARD

Monmouth University has been selected to receive the Excellence in Technology Education Award from the New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC). The award will be presented at the NJTC Awards Gala at Addison Park, Aberdeen, New Jersey on November 17, 2011. Director of the Rapid Response Institute Dr. Barbara Reagor will accept the award on behalf of Monmouth University.

Monmouth University was recognized for its integration of technology education in its undergraduate and graduate degree programs and institutes such as the Polling Institute, Urban Coast Institute, and the Rapid Response Institute. Over 400 students per semester use the technology on campus and the University has six technology intensive programs such as computer science and graphic design, coupled with a popular minor in Information Technology.

The NJTC Excellence in Technology Education Award is presented to a New Jersey College or University deserving of recognition for assuming a leadership role in the area of technology. Areas of demonstrated achievement might include faculty working together with technology companies to advance the depth and breadth of technology in New Jersey; a technology transfer department that has successfully commercialized a technology product and/or service; or nurturing and mentoring students interested in pursuing careers in New Jersey technology companies.
