MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR CHRISTINE HATCHARD TO BE INCLUDED IN TAALK-A-THON

“The Best Kept Secret: Mother-Daughter Sexual Abuse” has been selected as a key interview topic to be included in the upcoming TAALK-a-Thon scheduled for December 10 and 11 with guest speaker Dr. Christine Hatchard. Dr. Hatchard is a specialist professor of clinical psychology at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, and founder/director of Making Daughters Safe Again (MDSA). TAALK (Talk About Abuse to Liberate Kids) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse.

Dr. Hatchard will talk about the statistics of mother-daughter sexual abuse and the unique impact of trauma experienced within the process of maternal nurturing. Discussion will focus on the psychological profile of maternal abusers and the myths that may keep us from identifying and effectively intervening in cases of mother-daughter abuse.

Dr. Hatchard chose to participate in the TAALK-a-Thon because “MDSA has always been dedicated to reaching a global audience since mother-daughter sexual abuse is a worldwide phenomenon. This event is providing a unique opportunity to spread knowledge and hope to listeners all over the world.”

“Child sexual abuse is predictable and preventable when we surround children with knowledgeable and outspoken adults, and we all play a part in the solution,” says Diane Cranley, TAALK Founder and host of the TAALK-a-Thon. Diane encourages all adults to participate in the TAALK-a-Thon as a free and easy way to expand their knowledge on the topic. Since the show can be accessed via the Internet from anywhere in the world, as a live broadcast or later through archives, there’s no reason why we all can’t learn to be a part of the solution through this powerful event.”

TAALK will host a 24-hour TAALK-a-Thon to end child sexual abuse with guest speakers each hour covering a variety of topics related to child sexual abuse awareness, prevention, and healing.

The TAALK-a-Thon will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on December 10, 2011, and end at 11 a.m. EST on December 11. Hatchard’s interview will air live at 2 p.m. EST on December 10. To listen to the show, visit http://www.taalk.org/Radio.
