COLLABORATIVE MU STUDENT FILM PREMIERES AT THE NEW SHOWROOM IN ASBURY PARK

Monmouth University is pleased to announce that the collaborative film, Silent Patterns, by Monmouth University students and Professor Andrew Demirjian will premiere at the new ShowRoom in Asbury Park on December 19 at 7:30 p.m. Documentary Film and Introduction to Digital Media students at Monmouth University created this film and website in Professor Andrew Demirjian’s courses during the fall of 2012. The student film will be featured during a lecture on contemporary trends in experimental documentary film presented by Professor Demirjian.

Shot entirely on mobile phones, Silent Patterns is a collaborative documentary that focuses our attention on overlooked and ignored sonic and visual spaces. The ceilings of dozens of silent interior locations were filmed and intricately edited together creating rich orchestrations of present absences. Inspired by the work of John Cage, the work draws attention to the surprising sonic and visual variations that surround us in daily life.
